The FOIP Help Desk and Private Sector Privacy Information Line provide guidance and information to government ministries, agencies, local public bodies and private-sector organizations regarding the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

If you have questions about the collection or use of your personal information or about accessing information held by the Government of Alberta or a local public body, contact the FOIP Coordinator for the public body that has the records. Contact the Privacy Officer of a private-sector organization if you have questions about obtaining access to your personal information or the collection and use of your personal information.
The Information and Privacy Commissioner is an independent Officer of the Legislature who oversees the compliance of organizations with Alberta’s access to information and privacy laws and responds to complaints from individuals. Contact the Commissioner's Office if you believe your personal information has been handled improperly by a public or private-sector organization or if you are unsatisfied with a public body’s response to your information request.
