Agreement on Government Procurement

Effective February 16, 2010, Canada and the United States undertook commitments under the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA) in order to offer each other market access at the sub-federal level.

This means that Canadian suppliers have access to U.S. state-level procurement and U.S. suppliers have access to provincial and territorial procurement in accordance with undertakings under the GPA.  The GPA applies to the procurement of goods and services above $560,300 and construction above $7,800,000.
